What is Panchang?
"Panchang" originates from the Sanskrit words Pancha (Five) and Anga (Limbs). It represents the five sources of energy derived from the positions of the Sun and Moon.

The Five Limbs (Angas)
1Tithi
The Lunar Day. Angular distance between Sun and Moon. Defines the phases of the moon.
2Vara
The Solar Day. Each day of the week is ruled by a planet (Graha), influencing the day's nature.
3Nakshatra
The Lunar Mansion. The star constellation the Moon is currently traversing.
4Yoga
The sum of Solar and Lunar longitudes. It indicates the 'union' or relationship between the two.
5Karana
Half of a Tithi. There are two Karanas in one Tithi. It relates to technical actions.
